Restaurants Stazione Termini
Agata E Romeo - Via Carlo Alberto 45
Located near the Vittorio Emanuele Monument, Agata e Romeo is small and elegantly furnished with tables spaced far apart. The service is impeccable, as you would expect since the owner works the dining room while his wife handles the kitchen duties. The sophisticated menu changes monthly. Don't miss the perfectly grilled tuna rolled in hazelnuts if it's available. For dessert, consider Agata's millefoglie, puff pastry stuffed with almonds and sweetened cream. They have a range of carefully chosen domestic and international wines.
Coriolano - Via Ancona 14
You will have to look a bit to find this charming place near Porta Pia, but the reward is excellent Italian cuisine served in a lovely dining room appointed with linens and crystal and decorated with marvelous antiquies. Seafood is the specialty here, especially tagliolini all'aragosta (thin noodles with lobster sauce), but you can order anything with the confidence that it will be perfectly prepared. The wine list is predominantly Italian but includes some French and California varieties.
Trattoria Monti - Via di San Vito, 13
This family-run restaurant is one of the best moderately priced trattorias in the city. The atmosphere is cozy and the food is first rate. House specialties include fresh-made lasagnette with vegetables, vincisgrassi (lasagna from the Marche with a rich sauce) tortini with zucchine, eggplant, leeks and potatoes, timballo di coniglio con patate (rabbit casserole with potatoes) or faraona with chestnut sauce. Top it all off with a delicious apple pie for dessert.
Monte Caruso - Via Farini, 12
If you are looking for a meal in the immediate vicinity of the train station try Monte Caruso. Low arches and tiled floors create a warm, elegant setting. The menu focuses on food from Lucania, an area of Italy divided between the southern regions of Basilicata and Calabria. The pastas may have names that you do not recognize, but the dishes are generally simple and hearty. Don't miss the profiteroles for dessert, dressed at table with warm chocolate sauce and whipped cream.
