Restaurants Piazza Navona Rome
Boccondivino - Piazza in Campo Marzio 6
Hidden in an historic neighborhood and decorated with columns salvaged from 16th century ruins, this delightful restaurant is anything but archaic. The dining room is decorated with modern art and the menu offers some contemporary takes on traditional Italian favorites. The menu is seasonal, but there is always a delectable variety of seafood, pasta and steaks. Desserts feature seasonal fruit and homemade ice cream.
Il Bacaro - Via degli Spagnioli, 27
This is an ideal spot for a quiet, romantic dinner. With seating for only 24 you had better call for a reservation, but the small dining room ensures attentive service. Candlelight, beautiful plants and a beautifully decorated dining room set the stage perfectly. The food is unpretentious and exquisitely prepared. Excellent meats, seafood and pasta are all available. Some feel that the best chocolate mousse in Rome is served here, but you can be your own judge of that. In addition to an above-average wine list, a number of after-dinner drinks are also available.
Caffe Barocco - 77-81 Piazza Navona
Looking for a place for lunch at the Piazza Novona? Look no further. With outdoor seating that offers some of the best views on the plaza and prices that will leave your money in your wallet, Caffe Barroco is a great choice. The menu is simple: pasta, pizza, salads. While it may not be the best food in the city, it all well-prepared and more than fits the bill for a light, mid-day meal.
La Rosetta - Via della Rosetta 8
This is one of best seafood houses in the city. Yes, there is pasta (their homemade spaghetti is unforgettable), but the specialty of the house is seafood. Dishes vary according to the availability of particular varieties, of course, but you will not go wrong with nearly anything on the menu. If it swims in the Mediterranean, you can find it here. Surprisingly, you can also order lobster freshly imported from Maine. Reservations are strongly suggested for this sophisticated restaurant.
Quinzi & Gabrileli - Via delle Coppelle 5-6
Unquestionably the best seafood in Rome is served at Quinzi and Gabrileli. The place has an atmosphere all of its own; set in a 15th-century building with service that is efficient, if not elegant. But people don't come here for the service - they come for the food. Fresh seafood, perfectly prepared, has made this place a Rome tradition. You will pay for it, but the results are worth the price.
Il Convivio Troiani -Vicolo dei Soldati 31
Hailed by critics, tourists and Romans alike, Il Convivio offers a varied menu prepared with only the freshest seasonal ingredients. No chain-restaurant boredom here - original dishes, a wine cellar with more than 1,000 bottles, exquisite desserts all in a classic white dining room in a 16th-century building. Reservations are absolutely essential.
