Restaurants Campo de Fiori Rome
IL Drappo - Vicolo del Malpasso 9
This creative restaurant offers two dining rooms, both nicely decorated with flowers and candlelight. Il Drappo serves traditional, strongly flavored, Sardinian food, such as octopus, tuna and swordfish carpaccio, maltagliati with asparagus and prawns, flat spaghetti with sea lion or crabs, Sardinian home made noodles with zucchini blossoms, veal escalope with sage and Vernaccia wine, suckling pig with black currents. Bread is home made and desserts are delicious, like seadas, typical Sardinian cheese-stuffed cakes covered with a layer of honey.
Le Maschere - Via Monte della Farina 29
This trattoria specializes in the fragrant and spicy cooking of Calabria's Costa Viola, that features lots of fresh garlic and peppers. The ambience is informal, located in the cellar of a 400-year old building. Decorations are rustic but comfortable. Begin with a selection of antipasti Calabresi. For your first course, try one of the many preparations of eggplant or pasta. A variety of meats and fresh swordfish caught off the Calabrian coast await you. In the evenings there is a piano bar where you can enjoy pizza with friends.
Monserrato - Via di Monserrato 96
This is a quality restaurant in an area where it can be difficult to find one. Monserrato rises above normal tourist fare with quality dishes and excellent service. Fish is the house specialty. Try the swordfish or the pasta with shrimp and asparagus. Grilled fish is prepared simply, letting you savor the fresh flavor. In the summertime, this is a great place for outdoor eating and people watching.
Ristorante del Pallaro -
There's nothing like a restaurant filled with legends. The owner claims that Ristorante del Pallaro sits on the precise site where Julius Caesar was murdered. Whether or not that is true remains open to debate, but there is no question about the fact that Romans love this locally owned restaurant. There is only one choice each night, so you feel more like you are visiting the home of a relative, then dining out. Food begins to appear from the moment you take your seat - 8 courses in all. The service is friendly, the atmosphere is warm and the food is outstanding. What else could you ask for?
Al Bric -
Fresh ingredients make for delectable entrees in this bistro. And while the food is wonderful, it is really the wine that takes center stage here. Owned by a family with a long history in the wine business, Al Bric offers over 1,000 labels. Your knowledgeable waiter will be able to help you select a bottle that will suit both your meal and your budget. Open for dinner only.
